Houndstooth coat

I looove houndstooth fabric, it's classic and contrast with
bold colours well. So I bought this houndstooth fabric in
Fabric Shop Fitzroy on Brunswick street. I challenged
myself to create a raglan sleeve coat pattern with
my pattern making teacher Carol's help. She runs sewing and
pattern making classes, a really good teacher- highly
recommended. (see here for a link her Sew Happy Workshop)
Actually it wasn't that hard to make it and found a raglan sleeve
pattern easy fit on the body.

Street style - Natalie Joos

Let me introduce Natalie Joos, one of finest fashion
casting director in New York. I saw her first on
Tommy Ton's blog. What I like her that she knows how
mix vintage romance with modern looks. Lately, I have been
following her blog, Tales of Endearment. I found that she is a very funny
sunny colourful character. Have a visit her blog, then you'll
know what I mean.

Black and orange dress inspired by Bertolucci's
 "The Dreamers"
scene

Bernardo Bertolucci is one of my favourite Italian film director,
whose films are known for their colourful visual style. Me and my
daughter's favourite movie "The Dreamers" is one of his masterpiece.
The below controversial graphic sex scene by Eva Green somehow
sticked in my mind, perhaps I watched this movie over and over.
Anyway, when I bought this ponti fabric from Tessuti imagining
this dress in my mind. I used my simple summer dress pattern
and just extended the sleeves. It was easy to make and comfy
to wear.

Wildlife artist in textiles

I borrowed this book from my local library and found it is
very fascinating inspiring book. It is all about amazing art work
of Annemieke Mein display a rare standard f artistry. She has
explored beyond the bounds of craft and developed new techniques
in her use of textiles and fabric paints. She reveals a highly developed
sense of colour, a masterly grasp of composition and subtle use
of light and shade.
